As an avid reader, I often find myself trying to read while eating. This involves awkwardly propping my book against the cereal box, table centerpiece, etc. When reading in bed I prefer to lie on my side with the book supported on the bed next to me, but if my cat Isabella notices me she’ll promptly come and lie on top of my book, forcing me to read sitting up with her head in my lap and my book propped out of her reach on top of my knees. Needless to say, I’m in desperate need of a bookholder or two.
When Fiction Addiction first opened, we carried a bookholder called the ReadUpon. It consisted of an acrylic bookholder Velcroed to a beanbag pillow. It worked very well and was popular with our customers but unfortunately the company went out of business, the ReadUpon is no longer available, and my personal ReadUpon didn’t make it through my last move.
We currently stock Bookmates, which are great if you are traveling or need to protect your book from accidental splashing at the pool or beach. You can purchase a stand for the paperback Bookmates (the hardcover one includes the stand) and I can use this while eating but it doesn’t balance well on my knees while reading in bed : )
So, when a sales rep sent me a picture of the Peeramid bookrest I was immediately entranced. They just arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to take one home and try it out.

That’s my great fear, that I will lose my ReadUpon! Limedragon has reviews of a lot of different bookholders.
